ONEONTA, NY. Here in hickville, ny state this can't be too long cuz im stealing this from the rest of the hotel as i sit here in the hotel lobby. so after a long drive of like 5-6 hrs, i don't feel like counting we made it up here-to the baseball capital of the world. yes, cooperstown is abt 20 mins away and i think the only language people speak here, or at least their first language is "baseball signs". wtvr it is big baseball town cuz i overhaerd the woman at the front desk last nigfht explain to someone why it was so expensive, she said cuz they had like 3 leagues in this area or something. she was'nt kidding either, as i glance over to the (awesome) continental breakfast i do see several bball t-shirts, many which say "the road to cooperstown". notice how its not like highway to the Hall, at least the ppl are realistic.
So seeing my brother yesterday for the first time in a month and a half(minus 3 hrs) wasn't too bad- he even impressed me adn im sure my parens with his gemara as he walked out, albeit artscroll and i dunno maybe these girls up there in camp dig that cuz ya know with him its wtvr it takes. no, but thankfully he's goin that route as opposed to one not all too shtark...
ok so we went to a minor league game last night. it was awesome. (i love short sentences.) it was a double header although we came in the 6th inning of the 1st game, and they only play 7 innings in a double header in the minors. But the game was awesome. our team, the oneonta tigers came back from being down 6-0 in the 5th and scored 3 in 6th adn 7th bringing it to extras and winning it in the 8th on a sweet single to center. the noise of all 506 ppl who attended was deafening. yes, there were 506 ppl there abt 10 of which made noise but 3 who spoke aboev a whisper. so itr must haev been so quiet u ask? well besides for the buzz of the stadium lights and the choo choo of the train which rolled by every few innings and the CRAZY DJ in the "press box"-which conisted of a blue shack suspened practically in mid air aboev the backstop). but the music, although its the 3 weeks, i haev to admit was good but he played a new song every other pitch! but the songs werent new he just cycled through like 5 clips and never learned how to fade out so u heard a bit of a song then ABRUPT stop...very annoying, but for the most part the taste was good, no rap garbage, instead chuck berry's johnny b. good, fats domino's "walkin" and of course "eye of the tiger" every inning-they are the tigers!! so the game had its ups and downs, we were part of the 50-60 ppl left at 11 when it all ended(they lost the nightcap), but hey for kids my age, like 18-22 they didnt do too badly at all esp for single A.
ne way off to cooperstown and woodburn...
